Golf Shafting

Today, I found out about soft stepping and hard stepping.

basically it allows one to tweak the flex for the shaft such that you get a stiffer (hard stepped) or more flexible (soft stepped shaft).

Basically for soft stepping you put a longer iron shaft into a shorter iron shaft and butt trim it. 3 iron shaft into your 4 iron, single step; 3 iron into your 5 iron, double step. Hard stepping would be vice versa 5iron shaft into your 4 iron.

But a hard stepped regular is still softer than a soft stepped stiff.

But there are many other ways to play with the flex, ie tip trimming and all. But that would be another topic all together.

Just soft stepped a project x 6.0. It ends up stiffer then a dynamic gold s and project x 5.5 but softer then dynamic gold X and project 6.0.

Just glad with golf there are such options to lend fun to your game.
